Here We Go. Again.

(1/1) Happy New Year! I ran Nanan home to her cold house this afternoon--59℉! We powered on the space heater and I called for a few more to be brought out. The restoration company will start the demo next week and once that's done, hopefully we can get the furnace reinstalled asap. I got most of Christmas packed away back at my house. It always makes me a little sad to see it go.

(1/2) I worked from home today and tried to get back in the swing of things. It was thankfully pretty quiet today so I also did some furniture rearranging. I put together a nightstand for our room and hauled a bookshelf, all our children's books, and my plants downstairs to their new home. D says he finally agrees with having my plants there since it fills a hole. LOL, so glad he approves!

(1/3) Poor J woke up feeling absolutely rotten today. He came down, parked himself on the couch, and whined and moaned at me. Sorry, bubs.. not a lot I can do for a cold! I left him for a bit while I ran up to Nanan's to help her with some paperwork.

(1/4) I slept in today for the first time all break. Sarah and I met for a coffee walk and then I came home to attend to an HOA matter. Once that was done, I ran to WinCo for a few things. I made a huge batch of yakisoba for dinner tonight. It's been a while!

(1/5) I slept in again this morning. We're back at it tomorrow so today was a day of sloth for me. J is still barking and feeling crummy so I made chicken tortellini soup, which he then opted not to eat, but I enjoyed at least. The puppies and I spent some quality time on the chaise reading and we had a quiet day.

(1/6) Back to work for me, school for the boys (except J) and Dad had the day off. J hardly slept so we called him out. Poor bubs.

(1/7) Dad ran J in to the doctor first thing and he has pneumonia. He is on some antibiotics and an inhaler. He sounded so much worse today. Ugh.

(1/8) I went up to take Nanan in for a medical appointment and checked out the progress of things. The dehumidifiers are going and it's drying out downstairs. We ran some errands and got her set for the next few days. J managed a solid sleep last night and while he sounds terrible, he says he's feeling a little better.

(1/9) I worked from home and had a long meeting with our Chicago peeps first thing. That set the tone for the rest of the day, and man was I ready to shut 'er down at 5p.

(1/10) I worked from home today. It was so gross out we skipped our morning walk and I even gave D a ride to school. J finishes his antibiotics tomorrow but he's still a little wheezy. He is feeling better energy-wise at least!

(1/11) I spent some quality time with the pups this morning and then went for a walk in the sunshine. It was so beautiful and unseasonably warm out that I spent some time weeding the back yard raspberry and flower beds. You watch, it'll snow next week. Apologies in advance!

(1/12) It was not as nice out this morning so the pups and I had a snuggle while I read my book. Toffee thought she heard Dad, but it turned out to just the neighbors so she laid down and had a sad.

(1/13) I worked in the building today and took in my new shadowbox for my Starbucks mini cups. Now to fill it up! J was finally feeling well enough to go (grudgingly) back to school today.

(1/14) I was going to take the day off to meet the team up at Nanan's but they ended up postponing until tomorrow, so I logged in from home. It was a heavy day of meetings so I'm glad I was able to be there. J had a well-child visit this afternoon and though he's still coughing he's definitely headed in the right direction! He's tall too: 5'8" at 13 years. 😳

(1/15) I finally went in to see the eye doctor and got talked into progressives. I'm not ready! Or I am, I'm just not ready to admit it. I went up to Nanan's and they were ready to demo the floor.  The workers were there most of the day and I worked upstairs. I got home just as Dad was taking the boys to WinCo for their weekly trip. They came home with Chinese food for dinner, which hit the spot

(1/16) I worked a half day from home and then went up to Nanan's to take her to an appointment. We met her new PT and he is very fun. I also gathered enough stuff to justify one more dump run, but didn't make it before it closed. Tomorrow then!

(1/17) We all had work and school today. I worked from home and finally cracked the lid on my performance eval...and got my name down. So not my favorite thing to work on. I mean it's pretty hard to improve on this fabulousness.

(1/18) Today was beautiful and very cold! I ran a couple of errands this morning including picking up meatloaf for dinner and a marionberry cream pie for dessert to celebrate Dad's birthday! I joined Sarah and her mom at a sign waving event this afternoon, which had a decent turnout. I wasn't going to go to a protest this time around, but this one was taking donations for the food bank and felt community focused. I'm glad I went and I think we all felt more positive for it.

(1/19) I did a whole lot of nothing today and it was just what the doctor ordered. I spent the day puttering around the house and reading my book. Dad had to work this afternoon/evening and I made it through part of a show after he got home before it was time to hit the hay.

(1/20) Happy MLK Jr Day! We spent the day ignoring the world and put puppies and kitties on for River to watch. Sarah and I went for a coffee walk before my brother and family came over to play cards. Dad smoked a bunch of fish and cheeses for a charcuterie board and we had a great afternoon talking and laughing.

(1/21) I worked in the building today. I got as much work done as possible since it's my only day in this week. I'm burning some vacation time since it's relatively slow.

(1/22) I have today through Friday off from work. Dad and I spent a quiet morning together after the boys went to school. I drove up to meet Nanan for PT this afternoon and made it back shortly after the boys got home from school so we could do the WinCo run.

(1/23) I took the day off and ran up to meet the supervisor on Nanan's floor rebuild. We are cleared to get the furnace installed. Finally! I brought her home with me since we'll be traveling to Gig Harbor tomorrow.

(1/24) Nanan and I attended the memorial service for my aunt today. It was a beautiful service and I loved seeing family I haven't seen in years. D had to be picked up from school due to an issue so they had to call Dad at work when I was unavailable. It was a loooong day.

(1/25) I had a lazy day today which was nice after the past few days. I read my book and caught up on my shows. I made the gang breakfast for dinner tonight complete with cinnamon rolls. Delish!

(1/26) I tried to sleep in but ended up cracking open my book after Dad left for work this morning. I spent the morning reading and doom-scrolling while the kids were plugged into their screens. I met Sarah for a walk this afternoon when it finally warmed up above 40°F. I've missed our walks, but it's been so cold I've resorted to my treadmill a lot this week.

(1/27) I worked up at Nanan's today so I could both meet the techs that were finally installing her furnace (!!!) and so I could run her to PT. She has heat after almost a month relying on space heaters. Oof! Dad had the day off and he and D tackled the shopping and went for haircuts. D will be out until Wednesday and is working on catching up on some assignments in the meantime.

(1/28) I worked the building, the boys had school, and Dad and D were home. D got caught up on all his assignments so we're in good shape for the end of the semester!

(1/29) Dad and I had the day off and all the boys had school. D and I went to his re-entry meeting bright and squirrelly and got everything squared away. Dad took River in for her annual exam and she is doing great! I went to get my new specs and then ran a few errands before heading up to Nanan's for her PT appointment. This evening Dad and I went to a hockey game and we got to catch up with Rob & Mel. That was fun!

(1/30) I worked from home today, the boys had school, and Dad worked an evening shift. He went and picked up an old lady foster girl this morning who will be hanging with us until she finds a new home. She made herself right at home and the pack seems to have accepted her even if she's not our usual chihuahua foster. I'll give her a bath in the next few days, but the poor ol' gal has had her world upended.

(1/31) I had a training first thing out in Bellevue today, so I left early to play in traffic, and then headed home after to work the rest of the day from there.
